The hardcover edition has useful pain diagrams at the beginning of each section. These are absent from the kindle edition. Because the sample doesn't include any of the main sections, there is no way to know this without purchasing. Also I didn't see the CD content available with the kindle edition. Otherwise, it is nice to have this excellent text on kindle/iPad.
This book is an essential resource for any office. As a pediatrician I use this book at least once or twice a week. It's biggest competition is Up-To-Date but I find this easier to navigate and less ambiguous in regards to treatment/splinting/casting options.
I work as a primary care physician and I find this book very helpful, especially the easy to print patient instructions. A must have for any PCP's library.
Wonderful book. As a physician assistant student, I wanted something to more strongly supplement my ortho education, and this book does an outstanding job of it. The layout is smart and intuitive by body region, and the graphical content is a very solid mix of illustrations, diagrams and photo & radiology images. The physical book itself is large, but benefits from having a pleasant and easy-to-read layout that is consistently formatted throughout the book. This isn't a book that goes tremendously in-depth on topics (it *is* called "Essentials..."), but is a very accessible resource for generalists or even for ortho folks that want a great book on fundamentals (esp. thinking of you fellow mid-level practitioners out there). I will say that in terms of raw information, there are on-line resources that match or exceed what's available in the book... However, I don't think any of them are as high-yield and well-laid-out as Essentials.
Great book. A must for a clinician in any specialty from Ortho to FP. Goes over everything from anatomy, clinical anatomy, to how to test those anatomical parts. Arrived just as described. Fast shipping. Thanks.
For the hefty price of more than $100 for the Kindle Edition of this book, it is an outrage seeing as this "book" is anything but a book:No table of contentsNo page numbers - the pages are not even full pages; there are a couple words on each "page"Many pages appear as indiscernible "text" i.e.; "#$)WLK@K#No CD included, and no link for the content onlineThe entire text appears in snippets, and does not make sense.I do not believe I have ever wasted so much money on such a useless text before. It is disgusting and frustrating because one cannot return an electronic book. I am truly surprised there are not more negative reviews.
This text is perfect for the beginner in Orthopaedics. Each joint is broken down into specific conditions, each with symptoms, treatment, redflags, etc. The only downfall is that it needs to be more specific for more advanced orthopaedic studies. All in all, a good book for basics!!
This is an excellent text, whether you are a medical student, resident or an attending looking for a quick reference.In particular, I really liked the CD with the physical exam maneuvers - very useful for teaching students and residents (and brushing up on old skills).The only drawback that I can see is this book weighs a TON. It's not practical to lug it back and forth from home to the office.Definite buy.
