The book covers spine, humeral, radioulnar, shoulder, upper, and lower spine quoting papers in the English to American journal references dating back to 1975, and in some cases even further. The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery is often quoted. Studies from Baylor, Mayo Clinic, U Minnesota, and Northumbria, New Castle on Tyne, Cambridge Addenbrook’s, and Oxford are some of the premier orthopaedic centers gleaned information from. Paul Banaszchiwicz is one of the editors in chief. The summary, weaknesses, strengths, importance clinically and in history have separate sections in each chapter.Operative vs nonoperative approaches are discussed. Radiographs, charts, and line drawings illustrate the text well. Both retrospective and prospective studies of about 100 or more (700) have been detailed. This is an excellent book for residents, fellows, orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and historians alike. I give this book my highest rating amongst orthopaedics books. However, this is not an atlas and can not be used that way.
