The author provided as insightful as possible perspective on end of life decisions. There are not only those factors surrounding such a drastic life-style change, but the constant physical pain to consider. There are also the considerations of those left behind.
I bought this by mistake not realizing it was just a summary. Yes, it does say so on the book. I wanted to buy the book Me Before You when I didn't get a chance to see it in the movies after liking the previews. For some reason I was having trouble buying that book from my iPad. So instead I bought Me After You and am still reading that one. Then I was able to order the full version of Me Before You from my computer and enjoyed that.This book would be good for the leader of a book club because it contains a summary of the real book plus helpful questions for discussion topics.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, reviewed by J.T. Salrich was a very interesting read for me and makes the book much easier to understand. It takes a hot button debate and surrounds it with a heartbreaking love story. The right to die debate is something that has off and on been a hot topic here in America over the last several years. Salrich does a great job with each character summary. The main character Will begins the story with having the life that so many dream of. A well paying job and the ability to travel the world and participate in extreme sports made him feel invincible. A horrible traffic accident leaves him a quadripalegic, and a deep depression settles over him. While a male nurse tends to his medical needs, his family hires a young lady named Lou to take care of Will's mental needs and befriend him. This book will bring the reader to several thought provoking places: first, how far am I willing to go, and what am I willing to do to make the person I love I happy? Second, the author will make you realize that there is a much bigger world out there than what insulates each one of us. By the end of the story, Lou really comes into her own as a person. Through their relationship, both Will and Lou will gain more than they ever thought possible, even with the loss that looms over them both. This is a book that is well worth reading for anyone. A story of love and loss that many of us can relate to on some level. Salrich takes an already though provoking novel and makes it that much richer with his explanation and insight into the story.
Salrich once again delivers a timely and relevant review. This time Salrich tackles "Me Before You" an award-winning novel that has recently made its way to the big screen for a film adaptation of the novel. As usual Salrich does a marvelous job with the review of the novel and shares all the relevant information readers need to know, in a concise and straightforward manner. With chapter-by-chapter summaries and analyses Salrich's reviews are truly some of the most complete ones in the market. In this review it's obvious that Salrich knows the novel well and is able to deliver accurate and well-researched information, even providing notes at the end on how the novel has been received by other critics. Salrich's work on "Me Before You" is well organized and easy to understand, making it the perfect review; as always I cannot recommend Salrich enough.
I read this book knowing full well that it would make me miserable and very sad. It was all I expected and more. I learned a great deal about what it could be like to be a paraplegic and had great sympathy for Will and his eventual decision. However, I very unhappy with the way Lou treated Will after they came back from their trip. I know she was disappoint that she could not change his mind, but to run away was more than I could stand, very selfish and not at all what Will needed or deserved. She must have left him alone and unhappy for at least a few days, which so very wrong. I actually ruined the book for me. While I was fully prepared for what happened, I was totally unprepared for how Lou reacted. For that reason I could not recommend this book
I bought this by accident - my book club was reading Me Before You and I thought this was the actual book. Why on earth would anyone need a summary of this book?!! Is this like Cliff Notes? For chick lit? Seriously??
J. T. Salrich has created another great review novel for us. Me Before You: A Novel by Jojo Moyes – Reviewed is an excellent depiction of the original book as it gives a summary and then further breaks it down by chapter. I really like that at the end of each chapter summary, there is a little study guide and a review of the characters for you. This helps keep everything straight. I highly recommend this book for anyone in a book club or completing a school assignment.
It reads like a study lesson plan, I was disappointed - I was not reading the book for the lesson, and having a summary after each chapter as if I wasn't able to understand the concept. All I wanted was entertainment.
