bell hooks (all lower-case letters; born Gloria Jean Watkins in 1952) is an American author, feminist, and social activist. She has written many books, such as Ain't I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism, Feminist Theory: From Margin to Center, Outlaw Culture: Resisting Representations, Killing Rage: Ending Racism, and many more.
