I have utilized previous versions of this book by Saba and McCormick as a text for master's level nurses. I also recommend that it is appropriate for DNP students and nurses. Each new edition is better than the next. I particularly enjoy Chapter 1 which offers a historical perspective of nursing informatics. Another valuable section is that of International Perspectives which discusses informatics on six continents. This book is recommended for those seeking Nursing Informatics Certification as well as understanding the world of nursing informatics.
This latest edition of Essentials of Nursing Informatics provides a comprehensive overview of all the major topics in nursing informatics written by a wide range of individual experts who are well respected within the discipline. Excellent book at a good price.
I have used this text to leach DNP level nurses. I am currently using it to teach Master's level nurses. It works very well for both groups. The latest edition has expanded treatment of implementation issues, which is an important area. End of semester reviews from students were very positive for this edition and past editions of the book. The price is very reasonable.
Looking forward to receiving the workbook. Good comprehensive review of past, present and future.
Seems like an easy read for a subject that may be considered dry reading by some.
