My kids are bilingual. I encourage them to read books in espanol. They LOVE this series. The problem is the grammar is terrible. So while I love seeing them excited about reading en espanol, I am disappointed that they are reading improper grammar. It is as if a Latino native picked up a book that read like this..."Me and Jack are gonna go huntin in the woods." Since Spanish is not my children's first language, I fear they do not recognize the grammatical errors. But they are reading in Spanish!
my kids and I just love Dav Pilkey books in English and what a surprise to find them in Spanish. They are silly funny, even the translation in Spanish is funny. As other reviewers mentioned, the Spanish is not Real Academia de la Lengua Espanola and yes, some words are mispelled but you can't beat the fact that your kids actually want to read. Specially, for parents who are raising bilingual kids, it's a plus they actually are eager to read books in their second language. If you read David Pilkey in English, it is the same story, mispelled words and some strange grammatical errors. Bare in mind it's a book gear towards 6 or 7 year olds, that are learning their way through the language. They can relate to the books because they actually make some of the same mistakes when writing. I would definitely recommend this books for leisure reading but not for learning academic Spanish.
