I found this hard to "read" because it is basically Dr. Russell's abbreviated notes. There were many typos. I have the Kindle version, and I cannot read Chapter 6. It is a vertical chart, and there is not a dividing line between sections so the columns run into each other. I'm just referring back to my Med Surg textbook for the information instead. Glad I only spent $3.99 on this.

I wanted to give this more stars, but I just can't. I give it 4 stars for effort, but it's incomplete. I bought the print version, so I can't comment on the Kindle version, but there are formatting errors on some of the pages and some sentences just end inexplicably. Also, in the chapter that explains how to fix electrolyte imbalances, the book completely skips hypo/hypernatremia, hyperkalemia, and hypomagnesemia. Those are pretty big mistakes in a book on fluid and electrolytes. Considering that was one of the main reasons I bought this book, I have to say I am highly disappointed at this. The content that is there, however, is good. But, this really was a waste of 10 bucks.

I am not a medical student but it is always nice to know a lot of things about the substances that we consume. I remember our science classes back in school as this book is as good as the text books that we used back then! The first part discusses the basics of fluids and electrolytes and it was written in a manner that readers won’t get overwhelmed. Same as the 2nd part where advanced concepts were simplified. This book is surely a good deal as you are getting so much value with your money.

A short exceptionally discernible book giving a clinician a direct way to explaining even the most perplexing, acid base, liquid and electrolyte issues. A lot of medicinal terms not generally knew about yet the author unmistakably underscore the part of our body orgnas in keeping up our liquid and electrolytes offset and imbalances. Useful guide to medical students assistants and medical helper in charge of IV fluid treatments.

I have been a nurse for 17 years. I thought the book was a great overview of fluids and electrolytes. It helped clear up gaps in knowledge and gave me ideas for what areas I need to spend more time learning.

There are some very complicated ideas in this book that the author makes easily understandable. I found it most interesting learning about the different balances and imbalances in the body and their effects. It's not everyday that can read a highly technical book and find it enjoyable but this book is the exception. The diagrams helped a lot also

Is this guy a physician? He never uses his first name, and cannot be looked up. "Dr Russell"? He says that he used to be a nurse....does this imply he is an MD or DO?This doesn't have any relevance to the information in his nursing books--it seems like it helps a lot of nurses out there. That being said, it seems a little misleading if he has a nursing doctorate...or physical therapy doctorate...and doesn't disclose that fact up front. Why doesn't he ever use his first name? Seems a little shady.Jeff from PA

Really helpful and really simple to understand. I recommend this be a part of every Medical student's library. Understanding fluids and electrolytes is central in your IM wards.
