Favorite part was about building confidence as a new nurse and the definition of it. Also, how to get 8 days off without using vacation. It's like having a preceptor in the palm of your hand! Would have liked it if he included more ways to time manage your workday. Had great tips though.

Interesting quick read. Loved the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. A few minor grammatical errors caught my attention (I admit I have a very critical eye), but great advice for new nurses (as well as for others in the medical field). If you take Haws' advice to heart, you will start your nursing career ahead of those who have had to learn these tips on their own.

Best advice and tips I've ever read on working on the job as a new nurse! In fact, this book covers important and practical advice for any nursing student, new nurse or even a seasoned nurse. I found this so helpful and full of great tips that I took notes and know I'll be reading through this book again.

If you are wanting to know how to not only make it as a nurse, how to excel, this guidebook by experienced RN CCRN, Jon Haws, provides 50 great and necessary tips. I’m not a nurse or a student, but an author who is interested in what it takes to be a nurse in order to create characters in the field and make them sound realistic—not like characters from a TV drama. This book explains in detail how to handle difficult situations, tough-to-get-on-with doctors, stubborn patients, and even difficult peers. It also examines how the transition from nursing school to real world work can intimate some—and gives tips on how to survive it.Some of the other chapters look at the importance of arriving on time, when to eat and go to the bathroom, finding your first nursing job, and even carrying 2 pens and a marker. No matter the question you might have regarding the field of nursing, I can almost guarantee you’ll find the answer here. As with all the NRSNG guides, this one is nicely organized and concise. It’s too the point without filler and fluff. A must-have for anyone going into nursing or for anyone who is interested in the world of nursing. I will say that my appreciation for those who find nursing as their calling has increased greatly after reading this book. It takes a special person to become a successful nurse.

I love how Jon Haws reminds me of how lucky I am with my chosen profession. If you're a nurse you can really relate to every word written in this book. I highly recommend this book.

Helpful but mostly full of tips you could probably Google. Worth the buy if you have the money because it's convenient and not a waste of time. I thought his tip on living far from work was odd. Really? Nurses work 12.5+ hours, do you really want a >15 min commute? That's just lost sleep!

I love this book I feel like I'm more prepare to start to work as new nurse this was great book is great to have of you just graduated this book is for you

This is a great book for any new nurse. I like the fact that Jon covers many of the obstacles to expect when dealing with both patients and co-workers. If you want to be survive as a nurse in the real world...this book will help.
