Some of the information is not relevant. I also found several errors. Overall I gave it a 2 now Im going to try another book that has more reviews. The CD doesn't ask any new questions. They are just questions from the book itself repeated again. Kind of disapointed.

A registered PA highly recommended this book to me. I just finished taking my PANCE and have no idea what he was talking about. The subject matter, although good things to know, is at a level much higher than the actual PANCE exam questions (at least on the exam I took). Also, there are many errors. Perhaps earlier editions of the book were better? Long story short, I wish I had not purchased this book. It just made me panic and obsess over small details which is not the point of the PANCE. Anything in this book would have been learned by reading Current. Good luck to all taking the exam!

There are just way too many mistakes here. Also, answers are labeled incorrectly. The answer would be labeled "D", for instance, but the explanation is to answer "C". Very frustrating. Some information is outdated (many sources are from 2004), making it an unreliable resource and a poor study tool for the PANCE.

This book offers a decent review for the PANCE. It provides a CD with practice questions as well as practice questions in print which are helpful and have explanations with the answers. The book is divided by subject area and contains a pre-test and post-test.

I am using this book in conjucntion with the Appleton and Lange outline book to study for the PANCE. I mistakenly assumed they were meant to go together but they do not. My complaint about this book is that there have been questions in a few sections that seem totally out of place. For instance having a question about myasthenia gravis in the EENT section seems missplaced to me. The explanations to the questions are generally good and facilitated understanding of the answers. There are generally 2 questions about the same topics right following each other, so if you know what the topics is then it makes it much easier to know the next question. Sections are from 40-60 questions. I think its a goo adjunct to my other review books but wouldnt count on it soley.

Why use a book when you can do PA Easy which is the exact same questions that you can practice on a computer and get real test style practice but some prefer books. It's painful going through this, studying for PANRE now. I went through 4 chapters and went to computer practice questions. Just practice as many questions on the computer as you can is my theory.I'll stick to PA Easy, same questions, easier to use.

Not having been in practice for several years, I was definitely anxious and nervous about this exam. For 2-3 months I studied this book and the aapa certification book cover to cover and passed the exam. What's convenient about this book is that the questions are broken up in chapters that somewhat correlate to the aapa study guide. So you can read a chapter from the aapa guide then test immediately after using the Lange question book. Worked for me. The reason for 4 star and not 5 star is that the book did have a few wrong answers.

I found this text more difficult to study than A Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Physician Assistants: In Collaboration with AAPA and PA, but the question/answer format of the book is invaluable practice for the actual exam. The CD (which installed flawlessly on my Mac) is worth the price of the book alone! For those of us recertifying, and six or more years from our last exam, the multiple choice test bank provides excellent practice. You can choose the length of your practice test, whether you want to see each question explained as you answer it or wait until the end, and which section of the exam you'd like to take (or retake). There are a total of 360 questions. The study and test-taking skills chapter is also excellent for the first timer or especially the repeat tester. No reason to do poorly just because you don't know HOW to read the questions! Overall, a good study guide, and reasonably priced considering the CD, text, and overall exam preparation.
