I was pleased with the 34th edition when I first entered the Air Force a few years ago. Purchased this "current" edition so I would have all of the updates. There don't appear to be any updates from previous editions. They have entirely wrong outdated (at least 8 years old) information for several major installations, no reference to post-9/11 GI bill, only Montgomery GI bill, etc. This is all just at a first glance. I'm sure as I get more into the book I will find further inadequacies. If you have an older version, don't waste your time upgrading.
If you are or are planning to become, an Air Force Officer, this is the book for you. It covers the basics of what an officer should be, how he or she should act, what to wear, and proper attitude towards yourself, your Service, your fellow officers, enlisted personnel and the essential Code of the Air Force. It is an eye-opening book for those who have never served and have no clue as to the fundamental differences between military and civilian life. This book was first published in 1948, when the Air Force became a separate branch of the military, not an appendage of the Army.My edition was published in 1955, and naturally differs dramatically from the current edition, the 36th, which is far smoother and less frank.To give you a sense of what this book was like in 1955, here is a quote from the chapter on Promotion:"Everyone agrees that the promotion procedures of the Air Force work to his disadvantage. The persons for whom these procedures produce advantage have never been located. Nevertheless, promotion procedures are what they are, and it is well that each officer understand how unfairly he is going to be treated. Such foreknowledge prepares one for the worst..."Is the humor in this intentional? Or a byproduct of the reality facing an Air Force Officer?Naturally, the present edition is much slicker, and more obscure about the real difficulties facing an officer as he or she prepares to climb the ladder of rank.
Ever since I was an AFROTC cadet I have always had the latest copy of the Air Force Officer's Guide. When I got the newest one I was not disappointed. It now has color photos, too. This is very helpful. So is the order of precedence for wearing medals and ribbons. Thanks for including this in the latest edition. In the future I will continue to order the latest editions.
I'm planning on joining the Air Force as an officer and this guide helped to give a frame of mind as to the role that officers play in the Air Force as well as what the Air Force expects out of its officers.
Lots of good info for future and current Air Force officers. Bought this for my daughter who will commission in a couple of years - she says it's an excellent reference.

I greatly appreciated the breadth of knowledge this book had to offer. You'll still need other materials to elaborate on certain tropics, but that's understandable.
Has an extremely high variety of updated and relevant actions and instructions on how to be an effective and knowledgeable Air Force Officer.
