What I like about this is the big pages, big words, big clear topologies, lots of screen shots of the CLI and wireshark. This book is fairly brief in its treatment of some topics, so I would recommend something like Odom, for deeper treatment and as a second source...but this is a nice easy and fast read that really gets to the point, with great very clear examples. This makes a great review before your exam, or as a handbook for configurations. Not so strong on theory.Unique and highly recommended for your library. Some books read more like a chore, this one is just plain fun. Will be purchasing Switch and Troubleshoot

I'm writing this review in comparison to Cisco Press's documentation. This book is awesome. For once, a tech book, written in a language other than corp-speak. The examples are great, there's very little fluff, and it puts concepts in a format that's both easier to understand and easier to remember than the Cisco guides. This book does assume that you understand some of the basics, which a person studying for the CCNP should already have.

The material is presented in an easy to understand format. That is the only positive. Everyting is in black and white even though there are references to color in some of the diagrams. The author refers you to his website for labs, the files you download DO NOT WORK. Will not be buying another book from this author.

Of all the resources I have read for the CCNP Route so far this one is at the top of my list. For those of you who are visual learners this book provides many graphic examples to explain EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, etc. in more detail. For me it is a great reinforcement of what I learned in CCNA R&S and also to fill in my knowledge gaps where needed.

I really endorse the author of this book as he explained a not-so-easy material in a very simple and fun way. One of the things I liked about his style of writing is that he directs his attention directly to the reader. It's like both Rene and the reader are having a conversation with each other. He also did a good job explaining concepts and examples with clear drawings, diagrams, and tables. In terms of the knowledge and information you get from reading this book, it's not 100% comprehensive and complete. However, I really encourage readers who are studying this material for the first time to read this book first before buying bigger reference books in the future as it will surely prepare them for the bigger challenges awaiting.

Excellent book for getting right to the point of the matter. Doesn't burry you with concepts, but instead keeps it light. The book also includes some basic labs wich also supports the subject with YouTube videos for practice. You will definitely want to use this book as a supplement and not as your main book.

This book has helped me a lot in my preparation for the CCNP ROUTE exam. The language in which it has been written is quite simple and easy to understand for someone like me, who is not a native english speaker. Furthermore, the use of analogies, diagrams, and extracts from debugs makes easier to understand what is being explained. At the introduction, the author recommends the use of mental maps that are truly helpful for review the topics. Finally, GNS3 labs that are available on his website, free of charge even for those who do not have the book, help consolidate the knowledge through practice. Though the book doesn't have everything that is in the official certification guide, in my opinion this is the best book that exists to prepare for the exam.

This book is a collection of all labs for CCNP Route from the gns3vault. I enjoyed this book and its labs. I call this is a quick lab guide where you can focus on labs using it. Author explained very easily and simply even for the difficult terminology. One can use it as a first route book and understand the routing concept in brief with labs.
