As an RN, I found this book to be a valuable tool essential for learning about cosmetic injectables! It is very detailed with pertinent information about injection technique/methods, precautions, pearls of injection, as well as anatomical considerations to name a few. The information is very clear for a novice injector as well as for the advanced injector. What also makes it a great reference is the video segment that goes along with each chapter in addition to the detailed illustrations. The video segments makes it especially helpful for visual learners. I find it to be a great investment for learning about the subject matter!
As someone who has had the opportunity to train under Dr. Kontis, I can attest to her knowledge and skill in the field of facial plastic surgery. She is a true expert when it comes to injectable fillers and neuromodulators. Through this outstanding book, she has graciously shared all of this knowledge in a concise and easily accessible manor. Her algorithmic approach by facial subunits is very easy to follow with a plethora of outstanding tips and illustrations throughout the book. I strongly recommend this book to MDs, RNs and other professionals in the field at all training and experience levels that are serious about increasing their knowledge and expertise with cosmetic injections.
For all physicians, including plastic surgeons/facial plastic surgeons and dermatologists who perform injections with fillers and neuromodulators this book offers concise, easy to access, accurate, useful print and video content for basic and advanced injection techniques. For beginner injectors- or advanced injectors who may desire a refresher on a less frequently used technique, I highly recommend this book.
This text is an excellent and practical reference for injectables. The organization makes it easy to read and to apply to practice. It concisely describes salient issues regarding technique, indications and risks. It provides samples for informed consents and is extremely thorough in the subject matter. This text is my go-to reference when I am performing more challenging location injections. I highly recomend this for any practitioner who performs injectables.
The textbook was very informative . The videos were a huge disappointment . The providers hands blocked the view at times and she rarely explained what she was doing.I purchased the book mainly for the videos.
I have this text as well as A Practical Guide to Botulinum Toxin and A Practical Guide to Dermal Fillers (available as two books from the same author) I was pretty impressed with this book. It's more advanced than other ones I have gotten in the past. Very few clinical guides go into the Nefertiti neck lift and relaxing the tip of the nose. The author offers multiple videos for the same procedures which is very helpful as it gives you a better understanding of tailoring treatments. I wish she was more specific about units injected per injection site and the other text I mentioned is better at this aspect although I disagree with some of the suggested doses. I also like that the other text gives a visual map of the safety zones for people who are visual learners. I'm glad I have both guides and I'm glad I got this one second as it is more advanced.
The scratch off part to access the video online did not work properly which is why I bought the book in the first place! I tried to scratch off the code and the numbers came off with the code!!!! Very unhappy as the pics are not enough to learn how to do the injection properly without seeing it. Buyer beware!!!!
I found the information in the book great for quick reference. The book is organized clearly and simply. Good diagrams. The videos are good, not excellent. There are about 55 short videos with live patient procedures that reference the chapters in the book. That is a nice way to organize the information. Would have liked to see the AFTER results in more detail. As I was watching, I noticed areas of the patient's face that appeared to not be "finished", at least to my liking. I also would have enjoyed some explanation, especially for those who may need more information as an instructional video. Also, Juvaderm Voluma was probably not available at the time of publishing of this book, that product has made a great improvement in cheek augmentation. For those who commented that the CODE word does not work on the website, you may try using another browser to access the website. I initially used Safari and could not access using the Code but when I used Google Chrome I had no problem using the CODE. Overall, this is a good investment and you will learn something new. I feel watching others performing their skill always has benefit one way or another.
