No longer authored as one man's perspective -- Michael Barone after 45 years has finally passed the torch -- but his biennial article explaining the import of each election is still included, and most of the text still bears his unmistakable stamp.Thank you, NJ, for continuing this ital series.
This is definitely the gold standard. However, having substantive familiarity with several congressional districts, I noticed several substantive errors in the districts. Those errors cause me to question the other sections.
I buy two copies every two years -- one for home and one for office. If you are at all serious in understanding what happens in Congress (or doesn't), you must understand who the Members of Congress and Senators are. This is THE tool you need to get.This volume is so comprehensive. It's sole failing is that it comes out late in the year. For 10 or more months you wonder who the heck is that freshman Member. But on the other hand, some of the Washington activities of the freshman are reported, and create a context that is far superior to the simple campaign biography.The coverage of the primary battles and general election battles, if necessary, is a highly useful feature for helping to understand men and women for whom re-election is so important.
Great Reference book especially for the upcoming elections.
For a political junkie this is the bible. 2000 pages of demographic and statistical information
