Doctor Brook is an amazing guy. I've been following his career for quite awhile now. We need more people like him! I've gone through throat cancer and radiation and recommend this great book to anyone that has.
This book is a great resource for patients, families, health care providers, and medical and speech pathology students. It is a comprehensive guide to understanding and managing the issues associated with laryngectomy surgery and radiation treatment. It provides the unique perspective of Dr. Brook, a laryngectomee, physician, and patient advocate. Thank you Dr. Brook for all of your wonderful contributions to the laryngectomee community. As a speech pathologist in the field, I highly recommend this book.
This book is perfect for patients who are going to have or have had a total laryngectomy. It is easy to read and in terms that anyone can understand...not just persons in the medical field. Also, it is orgainized in a way that you can just jump to a topic you want more information on; I want all of my patients and thier families to get this book, it is such an important resource!!! Also, it is written by someone who has first hand experience with the surgery and everything that happens before/after.
This is a very well written book, a must for all pre operation and post operation patients, I am a Laryngectomee of 14 yrs but still found the book very informative, I would recommend this book to anyone who has been diagnosed with or had Laryngeal cancer.
