Quino, or, as his real name is, Joaquin Salvador Lavado, must be one of the greatest cartoonists this planet has ever seen so far. Hailing from Argentina, he is by no means limited to local issues and politics. On the contrary, his visions, his wit, his knack for the absurd, are universal.I don't know if this volume is available in another language than Spanish. Well, it should, because if you don't speak Spanish, your missing out dreadfully. If you're one to enjoy cartoons that go beyond the obvious, cheap laugh, then Quino is for you. He is a genius, recording human follies with his sharp pen in minute detail. But always with heart and soul, embracing human existence despite our obvious shortcomings.Special mention of Gustavo of Gucas Store in Argentina. Since the delivery of the book got somehow messed up by the company doing the mailing, Gustavo has personally taken care of matters and made sure that everything worked out well for the buyer, which, in this case, was me.
This Quino collection vividly proves the cartoonist's impressive ability to bringing things to the point just by drawing a few lines. Though from decades ago it is amazing how his sharp observations of day to day life stay up to date thus tickling our minds in a delicious way, especially if you understand Spanish ...but even without that.'Esto no es todo' is the most complete Quino collection I could find for online purchasing ...and there are not too many available. It gives an excellent insight into the work of an outstanding artist guaranteeing awsome moments of reading and surprise. ¡Chapeau! Señor Quino, su obra es una inspiriación muy especial.
If you have never read anything by Quino, try this book. It contains an, lets call it, "anthology" of his work contained in other books. If you do not know Quino's work, this book will introduce you to his world: fantastic, human, sad, happy, ironic, ugly and beautiful. Anything by Quino is a joy to read. Believe me.
The content of this book is mostly visual. It doesn't matter if you speak Spanish or not, you're sure to be swept away by Quino's minimalistic and amazingly eloquent drawings filled with great humor that deals with everyday life's misshappennings.
