Available To Downloads

Information technology in healthcare is increasingly being applied at the hospital bedside at point-of-care, and at the physician s office, and in our homes no more than a click away. With Medical Informatics: An Executive Primer, healthcare executives, managers and clinicians will learn when and how best to use this influx of new technology. Medical Informatics includes real-world examples illustrating how technologies such as electronic prescribing, personal health records, computerized practitioner order entry, identity management and electronic health records are changing the way healthcare is provided, and how they improve the quality and safety of patient care. In addition, the book examines the business of medical informatics, with analysis on return on investment, strategy management for implementing an electronic health record, software selection and project management. Special features include case studies on electronic prescribing, regional health information exchange, and the personal health record; a glossary of medical informatics / HIT terms; and an extensive bibliography. 2007. This book is a must have for students, executives and HIT professionals. A great addition to the first version. I recommend you purchase the first version of the book which really focused heavily on informatics in addition to this one. Some great pioneers are contributors. My students have to purchase this book as their text book for HIT course. Love it.

This book is very helpful to healthcare administration students. Used it in Healthcare Informatics course and it was full of pertinent and easy to read information on the subject. Useful info on HITECH.

This book has been in use only 6 weeks and the pages coming loose from the binding. I've had many other books over the course of the last two years and this one disappoints for sure! How am I to sell it back if it is ruined?!

I had already purchased the paperback but wanted the Kindle for easy searching. The chapters in this book do not align with the 2nd edition paperback at all. I thought maybe it was a 1st edition and mistakenly called the 2nd edition, but it doesn't go with the 1st edition either. I had to return for a refund but thankfully the refund process was easy.
